Three Easy Steps for Arranging Out-of-Town Surgery with Dr. Antell

Step One(Initial Consult): E-mail our patient coordinator describing your procedure of interest and any questions or concerns you may have. We’ll contact you to arrange an initial consultation with Dr. Antell. While it is always best to have a consultation in person well in advance of your surgery, we understand that for some out-of-town patients, this might not be feasible. In those situations, we ask that you send in photos of the area you want to improve. Click here for detailed instructions on what angles need to be photographed for specific procedures. Once Dr. Antell has reviewed your photographs, we’ll contact you to set up a telephone consultation so that you can discuss your surgical needs directly with Dr. Antell.

Step Two(Pre-op Testing and Consultation): Decide on your time frame for surgery and book a date in Dr. Antell’s surgical schedule*. When making your plans, keep in mind that Dr. Antell recommends out-of-town patients plan on staying in New York for approximately 7-14 days after surgery, and you must have a responsible adult with you.

At this time, you should also schedule a pre-operative consultation, ideally for two weeks prior to your surgery. If this is not possible we may be able to arrange your pre-operative consultation for one or two days before your surgery.

You will receive a surgery packet in advance of your surgery with instructions about the necessary pre-surgical testing required. Contact our office if you have any questions.

Step Three(Arranging Accommodations for Recovery): One of the benefits of traveling to New York for surgery is the ability to recover privately in a peaceful and comfortable setting that’s free from the stresses and distractions you might have at home.

Our patient coordinator will assist you with lodging and travel recommendations and can arrange private nursing care. We can even recommend some fun, non-strenuous activities for you to participate in during your recovery.
